Who wants to help me get a reservation?

If you can provide constructive assistance in securing one, I am offering something. Either drinks, a meal, or otherwise, TBD based on level of helpfulness. That is, if it's good.

Sorry I can't be very constructive but reservations are sold at charity auctions for $2500 and up. From what I've heard the best you can do is just show up and take your chances.

Any anecdotal evidence of that working? Will they even consider sitting someone as a walk-in?

Ate there about 6 or 8 times, but haven't been there in the past 10? years or so. Unfortunately, I can't get a regular table any nore. I can give you a little bit of advice if you want to PM me with contact information.
It was a cash only place back then.

me too. :D

that is to say, i would like to try it; have not been able to secure reservations (although i have not tried very hard0; and would be willing to provide something if someone can help.

i live in spanish harlem so if anyone has in person suggestions that don't involve same day reservations, i'm open to stopping by there. i haven't tried that and understand it can work but only for dinner the same day and i have to believe that a dinner here would be special enough that i'd want to bring someone/plan it...

guess no one 'in' at rao's is on flyertalk. not that that's surprising. (well, that, or they don't want to get involved....)

well stevenshev, let me know if you ever have any success and i will do the same for you. i've found that people who are most interested in an experience will have the most fun at it, even if it doesn't meet expectations.

(i.e., if you've ever scored a hard to get into restaurant and then taken a friend who never heard of it, you know the difference between their appreciation of the experience vs yours!)

happy new year. :)
