MTA instructiouns on Google maps now

The MTA is offering point to point directions using google maps now.

http://mta.info/mta/google.html

Put in the starting and ending address, it will get you to the station, schedule a train, and then get you to your destination.

There seems to be some distance you have to start and end from a train station (that's closer then my house at six miles or so, but it's still cool.

I still prefer hopstop (www.hopstop.com) - the directions seem a bit better to me. Good for them to have competition, though...

I haven't tried google, but I agree that hopstop is a great site.

I tried it last week, and actually was happy with the results, because based on my own planning I would have ended up walking much more than what the site suggested.

If it's plain MTA stuff, I too prefer hopstop, however Hopstop won't get me from my house to the train station, and then on a train and then on a subway (not that I need directions, it's just an example), I could do that on the google version.

It's just another tool to add to the toolbox when needed.

Hopstop now covers commuter rail, so it will do everything but the driving directions to the Metro North/LIRR/NJT station.
