Midtown Bars

We had hoped to spend tomorrow (Oct. 28) walking through New York on a nice fall day. The weather forecast calls for a 100% chance of rain.
My travel partner would like to spend the day bar-hopping and I'm looking for suggestions in the area between Lexington, 7th Avenue, Central Park and 42nd Street. We're just looking for that classic New York bar.
If anyone could assist with ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Something of a novelty is the Campbell Apartment bar located on the upper level of Grand Central Station. Otherwise the W Hotel has good bars... I like the one on 37th and Lex.

Look for any Blarney Stone. 106 West 32nd Street, New York City, NY Just off 6th ave. and 1 block from Macy's.

BS is about as blue collar/down to earth/no attitude, as you're going to get in NYC. Multiple locations in the city.

Yup, that's my first choice -- The Campbell Apartment.

If you go to the Blarney Stone during a Rangers game, forget it. The place will be packed. But Saturday's game begins at 10pm so you have a good chunk of the day to visit. It's a Ranger fan hangout.

I like St. Andrews on 44th just off 6th. Of course, I like any bar with men in kilts.

Best NYC-style bartender IMHO is at the Star Lounge at the Ritz Carlton Central Park South (CPS at 6th b/t 5th). Norman only works M-F though. He is one of a kind!

I enjoyed a few good pints, conversation and sports TV during a recent trip to NYC at O'Lunney's on 45th (between 6th & 7th Ave.) and at Pig-n-Whistle on 47th (between 6th & 7th Ave.)...cheers

Rosie O'grady's at 7th Avenue & 52nd street is good, esepcially if they have the downstairs open.

Blue Bar in the Algonquin Hotel. Also, there is a very good Irish bar near Grand Central, maybe on 45th, not able to pull up the name. Another possibility is the bar in the Oyster Bar at Grand Central.
