Going through security multiple times at JFK for lounge access
The wife and I will be arriving at JFK T8 in international oneworld business class. Approximately six hours later, we have an ongoing (separate ticket) flight to our home airport from T5. Our original plan was to go back into T8 after immigration and camp out in the Greenwich lounge based on our business class tickets (we don’t have status), then head to T5 in time for that departure.
However, we’re both Venture X cardholders and I see that the new Capital One Lounge is opening soon, so now we’re tempted to check that out. Would it be permissible to duck back into T8 to use Greenwich Lounge for an hour or two, then head over to T4 for the Capital One Lounge, then through security a third time for our actual flight from T5? I know this is technically allowed, but will it raise any red flags with TSA?? We were comfortable going through security twice, but I’m worried that three times is pushing our luck? But with such a long layover, we will have the time. Edited due to earlier error mixing up T4 and T5. |
I don't see how you could possibly be denied entry into T4 if you're actually departing from there -- regardless of what other terminals you visited earlier in the day.
Edited to add: It's a moot point, as the new Capital One JFK lounge is not in T5: it's in T4! https://viewfromthewing.com/first-lo...ne-lounge-jfk/ ("First Look Inside Capital One’s New Flagship JFK Lounge Opening 24/7: Fresh Ess-a-Bagels, Murray’s Cheese Experiences & Meals On Demand") |

Of course, that's correct. I made an error in my initial post which I have since corrected with the miracle of editing. We're actually departing T5 on Jetblue. So we'd be accessing T8 for the Greenwich, then T4 for Capital One, then T5 for the actual flight. I know that boarding passes allow access to any terminal except T1, but I guess I'm just nervous about playing that card multiple times.
I'm not even sure whether the TSA agents in one terminal will know which other terminal(s) you've visited that day; perhaps another FTer knows that. |
