Newark layover - day hotel or lounge access?

Newark layover - day hotel or lounge access?
Hi - We have an 8 hour layover in Newark tomorrow. There are 4 of us and we're all in economy class. I am a 1k/Star Gold. Are there any lounges we can access?
I looked at day hotels and tentatively have booked the Hilton but there's also the Marriott at Newark Airport. The latter has told me to call on the day (tomorrow) to find out the rates/availability. Would love to hear your experience with either the Hilton or the Marriott.
