Taxi - google pay error, but charged

A few time recently I've used Google Pay through my phone in a taxi and an error message would appear. I'd then pay with the physical credit card. However, despite the error message, the Google Pay charge went through. I've disputed the duplicate charges (same cab company, date and amount seems an obvious duplicate).

Anyone else? Anything to do other than just use the actual credit card?

Use the Arro or Curbd apps.
WIth Arro, you can't use Apple/Google pay, but you can store credit cards, and it looks like it also takes MasterPass and VisaCheckout.
You enter a code on the taxi screen into the app anytime during the ride and then payment processes automatically when the ride ends.

Yep, just download the Arro and Curb apps to your phone, save a credit card in each, and you can Pair & Pay in the cab.

You can also use both apps to hail yellow cabs remotely, though Curb charges you $1.95 extra if you hail (not pair & pay). Last time I used it, Arro did not have the surcharge, but it's been a while.

You also automatically get receipts emailed to you, so it's quite convenient.

I'll try those.

Am I the only having the taxi show an error message, even though Google pay actually went through? Not every time, but often enough to be annoying.

For hailing a yellow cab, Lyft is almost invariably cheaper, other than for rides to JFK, no doubt due to the fixed fare for cabs, at least in my experience.
