The worst experience I have on the JFK AirTrain are the people who hustle for MetroCards. EWR's AirTrain is just a general PITA.

I'll be that guy that says terror is winning if it makes you scared of riding on the airtrain. I will say that used to see security fairly often when I used to ride the airtrain.

Go forth and travel!

Those small train cars can be quite the squeeze during busy times.

Indeed.

Why am I asking this? ..... Have you not heard about the recent spree of terror attacks in Europe?
What recent terror attacks on European airport monorails cause you such concern about the Airtrain?

I wouldn't worry about the air train. They're probably hiding under your bed as I type.

You should just hire a black car if you're fearful for your life. Most certainly they could not be terrorists with explosives in the trunk.

I use the JFK AT often, on nearly every trip there are lots of TSA agents riding (the've finshed/starting shifts)...if you want to count them as security.

And make sure to request the bullet proof black cars.

I'd be more scared of rats in NY subway than terrorists.

Why are you worried about the AirTrain but not speeding kamikaze white vans, etc.? Be rational. Everything in the world has risk, and the risks are almost universally tiny.

Bear is right. The attacks in NYC over the years haven't been on the trains.

You should avoid:

Tall Buildings
Garages of Tall Buildings
Times Square
Triangle Shirtwaist Factory
Columbus Circle
People fleeing the police
The Police
Central Park
The Bronx
Brooklyn
Queens
Staten Island
Manhattan
Airplanes near flocks of birds
Any boat on the Hudson when there are birds near the airport

I'm sure there's more

You know, I always thought that was the case and was somewhat surprised to find such a high chance at that link, but it wasn't worth the time to investigate further.

Now now. No need to make it personal.
