Getting Mail at Hotel?
Just wondering if it is possible to get personal mail (sent by relative) at the hotel your staying at? If so do they usually charge for this service? What type of hotel offers this type of service?
I'm about to leave for a trip to NY/DC (then go to Asia) in a few days but a bank debit card I need will not arrive until a few days after I leave so wondering if I can still get the mail forwarded by my family members. thanks. |
I think just about any hotel will accept packages/mail for guest if it's addressed to you, c/o the hotel, and shows your room number on the envelope/package.
I suspect they won't charge unless you receive a giant package, but I bet some hotels do...best just to call the hotel and ask how they'd prefer to handle it. |
i have sent a number of items to hotels and motels. the receiver must go to the desk daily and ask for the item.

Correct, room number not necessary. Arrival date is helpful, especially if there is a chance that the package/mail will arrive prior to the guest check-in.
Some hotels certainly charge "handling" fees for packages. Larger hotels, especially those affiliated or adjacent to conference or trade show locations often send the packages to a "business center" on site for holding until you pick it up...and pay the fee. |
Never had an issue. I just have it (usually parcels from Amazon!) addressed to me at the hotel with 'guest' and the dates as part of the name field on the label.
I also send an email to the hotel to tell them I have done this as sometimes parcels have arrived before my arrival. An issue to consider is what would happen if it arrived after your departure and what you would want to happen to it then. |

If it's sent by UPS, FedEx and certain postal services, make sure you track the delivery of the package; the hotel can't claim that it wasn't received

Getting Mail at Hotel?
We send packages to hotels for our employees all the time by FedEx to be held for arrival. no problems and most fees vary from none to $15 plus tip if delivered to room

I would use Fedex and have it held at a Fedex office especially if the Hotel charges a fee.

"my experience with fed ex has not been great, as they frequently shipped to the wrong office." Really? Even when the address of the correct FedEx location was on the airbill? |
