Best NYC hotel for 1 night stay?

its a balancing game, best bang for buck type of thing, $500-700 for a nice room we are cool with, but not the $1k+ suites,

I really like The Plaza.
Getting out of the hotel doors and being..... THERE! in just unmatchable.
I think The Plaza has one, if not THE, of the best location of the world.

Rooms were among the best I have ever stayed in a city hotel....

we decided to go with the W Times Square, gotten some good reviews from people and the location is great

id really recommend considering suite at gansevoort, especially if they still do guestlist for suite guests

i dont know what "rank" meatpacking is now, but infinitely better than times square

I booked the MO NYC for New Years Eve through Amex FHR. Any reasons why this hasn't been mentioned in this thread? I was planning on the Plaza but it sold out before we booked. I have never stayed at a MO hotel... Any thoughts on this?

Probably the OPs first quote which was "we don't have tons of money".

MO is a better hotel than the Plaza IMHO- you will be more than fine there. Get a CP view room- it is very nice indeed.
