NJ Transit Bus 107 to Newark Airport (EWR)
Hello All,
A friend suggested I can take 117 to the airport but didnt have all the info. According to the Bus 117 timetable one of the stops is at:
NEWARK LIBERTY INTL AIRPORT North Area (outer roadway)
Is there a way to get to the Airport Terminals from here? Also does anyone know how much the fare is?
Any info will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Bus 107 (not 117) does indeed go to the EWR North Area. The fare is $4.40. A few times a day the 107 actually goes to the terminals, but most 107's don't.
You can transfer from the North Area to the terminals using NJT bus #37, but I'm not sure how easy that transfer is to make. In theory you might also be able to walk into the economy parking lot at the North Area and take one of the parking lot shuttles to the terminals for free. But I don't know how feasible that is, either.
If you're not up for the North Area adventure, I'd suggest either taking the Olympia Trails bus ($15), which is one seat the whole way, or the PATH train to the #62 bus (just over $3), which requires a change but is even cheaper than the 107.
See details at the wiki members of this forum have put together.

As a long time lurker and infrequent poster I've long wondered why few, if any peole have mentioned this option in recent years. It's a great trip for saving time and money provided you are not leaving near rush hour out of NYC. You can buy your ticket at the Port Authority ticket window. If you are running late, you can buy your ticket on the bus. I believe it leaves from platform 213.
The North terminal is the first stop on some buses and the second stop on some other buses. When you get out of the bus go to the sidewalk and make a right, walk about 100 feet and there will be an entrance to the long term parking lot on your left. Go in and wait for the long term parking bus to take you to the terminal. I've never had a problem, but if you are getting there very early in the morning or late at night, there is a chance that the gate may be locked and you won't be able to get in. I've taken this bus probably 30 times and the gate was locked only once, but it's always unlocked between 9 am and 7 pm.
If the gate is locked, you have to walk all the way to the front entrance where the buses enter the long term parking area and then go to one of the designated pick up spots. I'd say it's about half a mile of walking and it's not fun with a lot of luggage.

For most solo travelers, I would think the extra $10 is worthwhile to take the Olympia Trails bus instead, since it goes directly to the terminals at EWR, takes a faster route to the city and runs every 15 minutes every day (whereas the 107 runs at roughly 30 minute intervals on weekdays and hourly on weekends).
And for the true cheapskates, the PATH + Bus #62 is even cheaper (although it's probably slower).
But I can see how this might be a good in-between option.

For 95 cents more than the cost of riding the #107 from Manhattan to EWR's North Terminal, one can take the 20-minute train ride from Penn Station Manhattan to Penn Station Newark, and then transfer to the #62 bus, which provides service to the passenger terminals at EWR. Total travel time to the passenger terminals will probably be the same or less than taking the #107 and then transferring to a parking lot shuttle bus.

I went ahead and added it to the wiki under "Other Options". Feel free to edit if you have any corrections or clarifications.
One curiosity: I note that the schedule says that the few times a day Bus 107 goes to the EWR passenger terminals that it "does not transport New York passengers to or from" the terminals. Anybody have any idea how they enforce that?

Thank you all for your responses. I had looked into the 62 option from Newark but unfortunately the schedule mentions restrictions on luggage that can be taken on board. Seems like they only allow one carryon sized bag. Not sure how strictly they adhere to it but I dont want to take a chance.

New NJ Transit "Go" bus service between Newark and EWR
It looks like NJ Transit just recently inaugurated new "Go" bus service on Route 28. This is limited-stop service to the EWR passenger terminals. Although this bus does not stop at Newark Penn Station, it does stop at the Prudential Center, which is just a couple of blocks from the train station. "Go" buses run frequently, are equipped with luggage racks, and cost $1.35 between Newark and EWR. Details of the new service here:

smindc, if you're concerned about bringing lots of luggage on the bus, I'm not sure #107 is going to be much better than #62. Both are simply local bus routes that happen to go to the airport and are more intended for people getting to/from work than for airport passengers.

Do you think it's worth adding to the wiki?

I've been on that bus 15 minutes sometimes and 40 minutes other times.
I've found that the 107 bus connecting to the long term parking shuttle is usually quicker. I don't usually take the train from NYC Penn Station to Newark Penn Station, I know that is a little quicker than the PATH.
I still think the travel time with the connection to the 62 bus would be about a wash.

Sometimes I take the PATH from 33rd St. to Newark Penn Station. Maybe I've been unlucky but the PATH always seems to take awhile (I don't know what the scheduled travel time is) and then the connection to the #62 bus.

I think the running time on the PATH from 33rd Street (with the connection in Jersey City) is about 35 minutes, vs. about 20 minutes by NJ Transit rail from NYP.
The new #28 bus between EWR and Prudential Center should be faster than the #62, since the #28 is a limited-stop service. But then there's the walk between Newark Penn Station and the Prudential Center.
And of course, for $6.60 more than the fare on the #107, you can take the train from NYP to EWR. That's probably the fastest of all, at least if you are going to/from Terminal C.

I might try this out next month.
Amtrak / NJT to EWR is just so expensive!
