Guidance for Henri?

Hi FT! Would appreciate your wisdom about the following:

I知 scheduled to travel from Cincinnati on Sunday, with my eventual destination New Haven, CT. I知 routed CVG -> DCA -> LGA departing 7:59 am and arriving about 11:30 am, then planning to take Metro-North onward to New Haven.

Hurricane Henri, though, is possibly going to make landfall on Eastern Long Island/Southern Connecticut Sunday around 2. Does anybody have a sense of how likely it is that my flight to LGA will actually take off? (And悠知 assuming that if I make it to NY I値l be able to take the train, but is there any chance Metro-North ceases operations?)

I think all of your scenarios could pan out. Sunday travel within 100 mi of HVN will be fraught with risk. Fly on Saturday if possible. The hurricane's track keeps nudging westward between the two pressure centers steering the storm. From Sunday onward the train catenaries may be down.

Unlikely to take-off. The flight would have been cancelled proactively in order to avoid further service interruption.

(UA has issued a travel waiver already. Not sure others will follow.)

Difficult to say. Sandy was an good example why not.

You won’t be flying east of the Jersey turnpike likely on Sunday. Certainly not CT or MA.

Thanks all悠 got myself put on a 6 AM departure direct to LGA in hopes that I can beat the worst of the storm. Fingers crossed.

Expect that your flight will be cancelled. Airlines will avoid putting their expensive planes at risk.

100% chance, as they just just suspended the New Haven Line.

Assuming a 7am EDT (11:00 UTC) arrival, the weather will be landable, but winds will pick up quickly after that. Plan on being stuck near NYC if you get there. Safe travels.

Appreciate this a lot. Flight looks on track to take off. Any sense of whether taking a rental car LGA -> New Haven right after landing is doable? I can drive through some rain, but not looking to have my car blown off the CT Turnpike or caught in a flash flood...

Last update, in case it helps anyone: roads between LGA and New Haven were very driveable between 9:15-10:30, though the rain was heavy up through Bridgeport. My original routing via DCA actually would have worked葉hat flight is in the air now, though I知 not sure what the roads will be like when it lands.
