Buffalo to New Haven, CT
I need to travel to New Haven from Buffalo, NY, with my elderly mother. I'm looking for the easiest, most comfortable route, as opposed to the least expensive. I'd like to fly to either Boston or an NYC aiport since we can fly direct. Any advice on which airport is best and how to travel from the airport to New Haven? Thanks.

Personally, I would look at flying BUF-PHL-HVN on AA for the least amount of hassle. But if that fare is too high or you don't want to do an airline connection, you could fly BUF-EWR, take the EWR AirTrain to the airport rail station, and then take Amtrak to New Haven.
United codeshares on Amtrak trains from EWR to certain Northeast train stations, including New Haven rail station, which has an IATA code of ZVE. So at united.com, you can price BUF-ZVE tickets, and compare the price with a BUF-EWR UA ticket plus an EWR-NHV Amtrak ticket. (Amtrak and UA utilize different codes for the New Haven rail station: Amtrak's is NHV; UA's is ZVE. And a third code -- HVN -- identifies Tweed/New Haven Airport.) You could also fly BUF-BOS, take a taxi from the airport to Boston South Station, and take Amtrak from Boston to New Haven. The fastest way to get from BUF to New Haven world likely be to fly BUF-LGA, and then drive a rental car from LGA to New Haven, or hire a shuttle service for that part of the trip. |
