Weird question about landing at BDL

I don't know where to post this question, but I'm looking for some kind of detail about something you would see right before landing at BDL, be it a landmark, or a lake, or anything of note? Something you might point out to a kid, even if you're making a big deal out of something minor. This is for a writing project. Thanks for any suggestions.

Not something I would point out to a child, but an interesting/unique thing is shade-grown tobacco. You can see the fields covered with what looks like big screens or sheets.

There is actually a museum of shade-grown tobacco near the airport (the tobacco is used for the outer wrapping of cigars).

Interesting. When they were kids, my parents used to pick tobacco in CT in the summer. Yeah, unfortunately, it needs to be kid appropriate.

Why isnít it kid appropriate? Do we need to shield them from the fact that tobacco even exists?

Thatís really all you (might) see.

Yes, I think the Connecticut River will work! Thanks. I write for young kids. I have limitations on what I'm allowed to mention sometimes. That's just the way it is.

You're not allowed to mention that tobacco is a plant that grows in the ground? Really? I honestly wonder where the world is going sometimes.

Yea. You probably also cannot mention that blacks were slaves that came over from Africa to work on the plantations.

But yet you can talk about "poop". Look up "Everyone poops"

That shade tobacco was grown in my hometown.

Depending on which way you come in, you can arrive right over the bowling alley on Rt. 75 and the McDonald's just down the street is very visible.
