Special Restaurant - Mom's Bday - Boston area

A big birthday for my mom is coming up, and while I grew up in Boston area, I haven't followed the dining scene since I moved away.

Looking for suggestions for a nice restaurant (price always a consideration, but can be higher end) in Boston, Cambridge, or north and west from there (inside Route 128) for a birthday meal (not a huge # for party 4-6 people or so).

There are countless restaurants that would satisfy this request, but I think No. 9 Park -- which I revisited a couple of weeks ago for the first time in several years -- is really a special place. Warm, elegant (without being overly formal), inviting, and delicious. Just beware of the awesome driving in Boston!

Personally, I'm partial to Trade - the new place Jody Adams opened on Atlantic Avenue near the waterfront after she closed Rialto off Harvard Square. (Or maybe she opened Trade first. Doesn't matter.) That said, I agree with Blumie - there are a gazillion, if not more.
