Best skiing options near Manchester, NH

Got a late start planning a little getaway and it looks like Manchester is much cheaper to fly into than some of our other choices. Looking for the best ski options nearby. Wife has never skied before, and I have been several times out west but never in New England.

For a beginner like your wife, Waterville Valley and Loon - both about 90 minutes from MHT - would be good bets. It'll be icier and shorter than you're used to from out west.

+1 on it being much icier and smaller than out west. It'll also be colder.

The NH areas mentioned above are quite nice.

If you are looking for a larger area, I would check out to Killington, about 2hrs, Sugarbush / Mad River Glen, about 2.5 - 3 hrs or Stowe, about 3-3.5 hrs in Vermont.

Sunday River in Maine is a little over 3 hrs away.

Very close to MHT is Crotched Mountain, which is a very nice smaller ski area.

These ski area by state maps may help.
