Boston - what is the closest thing to Clarke Quay and Asiatique the riverfront?

Title says it all. It's a little cooler in Boston now but is there anything resembling the live music and crowd of the Asian venues mentioned?

Boston is NOT Singapore or Bangkok (thank goodness). It has it's own character, unique history, and neighborhoods to explore. There is not really one main, purpose built area of clubs and restaurants. And movement is very dependent on pleasant weather, which is not a year round given.

One of the more recently developed areas, with lots of high end restaurants, is the Seaport district. The Quincy Market area is quite touristy and has many pubs, restaurants and food stalls. The largely Italian North End neighborhood has many restaurant and coffee house options. The South End also has many excellent restaurant choices, music venues and the weekend SoWa market. There is an alley of clubs (mostly catering to a young crowd) off the Boston Common. Others are scattered throughout the city. There is a designated Theatre District for plays/musicals. Music venues are also found throughout the city. Adjoining cities such as Somerville have excellent small music venues, young crowds, and a new high end mall. Harvard Square in Cambridge has always had lots of movement, music venues, coffee houses, an international feel, and in better weather, live street music and performers. For example, just yesterday, there was a band playing Brazilian forro music for dancing and to entertain lunchtime patrons of several ethnic food trucks on a pleasant sunny plaza.
Exploring the city's neighborhoods is much of the fun, IMO. Enjoy.
