PVD...where to start...
Personally, I would want to live as close to Brown/Thayer St as I could. Most of RI isn't nice unless you get way out into the country or way down south to Newport area (personal opinion). Parts of Providence are great, parts are terrible - stay far away from anything near Pawtucket. You'll be close enough to Boston that you can easily do all the cultural stuff Boston has to offer as well. Good luck with the move, get yourself some Del's and Nice Slice when you arrive. This neighborhood is very much within the sphere of Brown, although quite residential, and away from the congestion of Thayer St - it's also a very short straight shot (like less than 2 miles) onto I-95 N. and getting onto I-95 North there totally misses the congestion through Downtown Providence during commute hours. I used to live there when I was working in the Norwood/Dedham MA area, and I had a 28 mile commute that invariably took me only a half hour door to door as it was a reverse commute from rush-hour traffic. |
