How can I go to Gillette Stadium with public transportation ?

Hi all,

I will be visiting Boston from abroad this summer and would like to see the Patriots, can someone help me with directions to the stadium from around South Station T, possibly with the corresponding schedules ? I will not have a car and need to use public transportation.
Many thanks !

Cheers,
J-

The train schedule is here

http://www.mbta.com/riding_the_t/patriots/

It has not been updated yet for this season.

As cordelli pointed out, the commuter rail has a stop right at Gillette. It's literally right there, next to parking lot #1, where the players park (among others). The train waits a while after the game ends to head back to South Station.

Along with the transportation information, here are the summer dates for both pre-season and regular-season games in August and September:

Thursday, Aug. 26 St. Louis Rams 19:30 EDT

REGULAR SEASON
Sunday, Sept. 12 Cincinnati Bengals 13:00 EDT
Sunday, Sept. 26 Buffalo Bills 13:00 EDT

Interesting...

My Boston area visit coincides with the Aug 26 pre-season game date. Anybody know how to order tickets? I don't see anything for pre-season tickets on patriots.com

They sell out very quickly every year and may already be sold out. You may want to try a ticket broker like StubHub, Ace Ticket, or the like.

Tickets for Aug 26 are still available at

if that link doesn't work, try this

StubHub or similar might be a good idea, as a significant number of season-ticket holders, who are forced to buy pre-season games as part of their packages, opt not to go.

Check out the Boston Craigslist for Pats tickets. There's always a ton on there. Find a posting from an actual person selling theirs as opposed to postings that just link you to their website. Granted, you won't have the protection of using one of the fee-based sites, so it that bothers you, you'll have to look elsewhere.

As for the train to the game, it's kinda cool, albeit on the long side for the relatively short distance. It takes just over an hour from South Station and you'll be nearby within a few miles within a half hour. Then the train actually changes direction to go off the main tracks onto an old freight spur and the train literally doesn't go faster then 5-6mph the rest of the way haha.

It was $10 roundtrip last year, no one way tickets which I doubt would be an issue in your case. I've taken it in the past to games when I was late getting out of town for the day and then just drove home with my buddies.

I'd see the train advantage in being leaving the game.

The 1hr ride can easily beat the drive. Rt.1, even with oncoming traffic being reduced to one lane, making five lanes leaving the staduim, can be a parking lot as it merges to either one or two lanes (depending on the days' construction - seems like they've been rebuilding that roundabout for many, many years) as you get on I95.

Looks like the schedule just got updated. It's $15 for the round trip.

Link isn't working, but since the question was last asked nearly 2 years ago, probably not an issue.

Trains for football games still exist. Trains for concerts don't necessarily still exist. I'm sure more info will be available when needed.

Are you referring to the MBTA link in post 2, or StadiumMan's link? Both are working for me as of right now.

Stadium Man's link wasn't working for me at the time, ok now.

But the website really doesn't at all answer the question of the thread about getting to Gillette via public transportation, but looks to me as something a new intern at the hotel whose website was linked would try to post in an effort to get the word out about the property.
