I'm EE and tend to avoid Enterprise for a variety of reasons. During 12F I'll do a few rentals especially when they have their weekend specials.

Thanks autoslash and KevinMD. That's what I suspected. There is sizeable difference in terms of fare - I'll try and see if I can bring it down and go via National.

I booked a car through National for a trip to OGG a few months ago for over Thanksgiving. When I booked, the price on the reservation was $206.99 as listed in the confirmation email. I just logged in to my account, and now the reservation says that the estimated total is $457.92! The weekly rate appears to have jumped from $162.50 to $233.57, and while the email says "CDW-ALLOCATED INCLUSIVE", which I thought was insurance(?), was included, the reservation now has $159.95 added on for Loss Damage Waiver.

I was under the impression that when I made the reservation, I was agreeing to pay the price I saw on the final screen, not whatever they decide to make it when I get there! Is that not the case?

Did you book it with a corporate discount code? If you are US-based (which is looks like you are) and are renting in the US (OGG so yes) then the only way you would have gotten a CDW-inclusive rate is by using a corporate discount code. If you were authorized to use that discount code, then just email National customer service and ask them to adjust it. If you just used some random code you found online, then you are probably SOL. The terms of the corporate contract probably changed and you're probably going to have a tough time fighting it if you weren't qualified to use that discount code.

Yep, I used my company's discount code, which I am authorized to use for personal use. I actually contacted National via Twitter shortly after posting here and they saw a different number than what was in my confirmation email OR in my online account (it was in between the two). They couldn't figure out why the amount was different, so they will be following up via email. So it sounds like I basically took a round-a-bout way of doing what you suggested. Thanks though!

How are you entering your company's discount code? I haven't used National in a bit and could not find the spot on the new reservation to add my corp discount code. I had to call them to have it added to my profile but according to the CSR that I spoke to, if I want to check rates on other discount codes that I'm entitled to use (like a credit card code or even the standard EA member discount) I have to call them back to change it again. That can't be right can it? And what about coupon codes? Are those gone too? It's been a while but used to be able to double and sometimes triple dip...

Googled and found this: https://www.nationalcar.com/en/suppo...-contract.html

TIA

Hi everyone.

I have an upcoming reservation with Alamo at LAX. I looked at the actual location on Google Maps street view, and seems like National and Alamo are sharing the same premises. My questions is this: are the Alamo and National parking lots the same or are they different? Would I have to look for Alamo signs or would I be able to pick up a car from anywhere?

I also reserved a FDAR (or Standard) vehicle, but I noticed the actual parking lot is marked Standard/Fullsize. This means I would be able to pick a fullsize despite having a reservation for a Standard?

They're both in the same parking garage, Alamo on the ground floor and National upstairs.

Whenever I've rented from Alamo they've pointed out the specific cars I could choose from. For example there's often an "SUV" section but they won't let you take a Suburban on a Standard SUV res, they'll point you to the Standard SUV class options in that section.

Got National Executive status through a status match from Hertz.
Now we're looking to reserve a car at JAC airport coming winter, where I assume there's no Executive aisle.
How would we go to get a full-size SUV? DO we simply reserve the class we want to get, and get charged for one class below?

Correct on both counts, no Aisle at all at JAC. As long as the Executive status is already reflecting on the website, it will automatically adjust the pricing for you when you book, so if you need/want full-size SUV, book exactly that class.

There is no pricing benefit for the SUV's.It only applies for the full size, premium, and luxury cars.

There is not supposed to be a benefit, correct. That being said... YMMV, mine certainly has.

Last week at FAT, i had a minivan reservation as it was the cheapest rate (~$170 for 4 days), even cheaper than midsize rate. I picked up the Nissan Maxima from the Executive Aisle and proceeded to the gate. At the gate, the attendant told me my that my charges would be around $300. When I asked him why, he said something to the effect of me still getting a free upgrade, but since it is a new reservation now, I am getting the walk up rate and not the one that was in place the week before when I reserved it. And to keep the same old rate, I would have to get a minivan, so I returned back and picked up a Chrysler Pacifica from that same Executive aisle and was able to get the same $170 rate with that.

My reservation did say to go to the counter, but the counter at FAT has a sign to just proceed to the parking lot and there were no attendants in the lot that usually greet you. I thought that as Emerald Executive, I can pretty much pick a car from the aisle whenever I want and get the rate that I reserved. Is that not the case when you reserve a specific category of cars?

I recently became an Executive Elite member and we’ll be in BOS for a week starting Oct 10th. What’s the best way to get the best rates for my EE status. When I try to make a reservation it shows Executive Aisle first at the top, which cost more than a midsize. Should I be reserving a midsize instead?

trying to get an SUV since we’re traveling with an infant + 3 adults

You can book a midsize (or higher--whatever is cheapest) and take your chances that the Executive Aisle will have an SUV that meets your needs, or you can leave your reservation as-is and be guaranteed your chosen vehicle. Chances are decent there will be at least one SUV available in EE, and if not, you could always wait around a while or ask a lot attendant to move something to the aisle, but then again, with an infant, you may want to head out quickly. Your call.
