[DEAL GONE] Extremely Insanely Hot National Deal Rental

Just booked a midsize car, $40 for 3 days, heh, using a legit code.

Appears to work ONLY on midsize, but doesn't really matter, since we're all Executives, we can still pick from the ES aisle!

Go here:

http://usa.visa.com/personal/discoun...unts/index.jsp

Contract ID 5026801
Coupon Code NU2889JDP
Expires 02/28/09

Must pay with VISA.

Came out to $41 and change. $37 if you use the Continental Airlines FF Contract ID.

If you book at a non-airport location, it could end up costing you a couple dollars.

Are you referring to the National 3rd weekend day free promotional coupon? There are lots of variations of this offer including National.com, NWA, and CO.

What airport did you get $40 all-in at? What dates?

DCA, as a matter of fact, for this weekend. Pickup this Friday at noon, dropoff Sunday evening. I tried a couple other weekend dates, and they work fine.

Appears to ONLY work on mid-sizes, works best on weekend rentals.

It's even better at non-airport locations; for instance, if you reserve at Washington-Union Station, it's $31 all in for the weekend.

And no, it's not the National 3rd weekend day coupon, it's even better! It's the VISA Fall 2008 Promo gone horribly wrong, but very well for us!

Wow - this saved me about $120 on a week long rental at DSM in December. Thanks! ^

I just booked a $0.00 car in OKC on 8 November.

Seems to be a $21ish rate and a coupon for 2x that number, resulting in a $0 rental and half the coupon being forfeited. I wonder if they'll honor it. No CC taken during the booking, so I likely don't have much leverage if they don't. Also got a $0.47 car in SNA.

It looks like they are pricing a 1 day rental with the freebie, even though it doesn't qualify based on the minimum required:
Receive a FREE Weekend Day when you rent a compact through fullsize car in the United States with National Car Rental® when you pay with your Visa® card.

Requires a 3-day minimum/5-day maximum rental with a Saturday overnight keep. 24-hour advance reservation required.

To redeem this offer, click the link below or call 1-800-CAR-RENT® (1-800-227-7368) and request Contract ID 5026801 and Coupon Code NU2889JDP. Offer redemption is solely the responsibility of National Car Rental.

Valid from 09/01/2008 to 02/28/2009

Terms & Conditions

* One coupon per National rental and void once redeemed.
* Free day is prorated against base rate for entire rental period, which does not include taxes, other governmentally authorized or imposed surcharges, license recoupment/air tax recovery and concession recoupment fees, airport fees, fuel, additional driver fee, one-way rental charge, or optional items.
* Vehicle must not be picked up before weekend rates are available on Thursday; must not be returned before the immediately following Sunday. Vehicle must be returned no later than the immediately following Monday on or before the time the rental began or higher extra day rates may apply.
* Renter must meet standard age, driver, and credit requirements.
* Blackout dates may apply.
* 24-Hour advance reservation may be required.
* Subject to availability and valid only at participating National locations.
* Offer not valid in Manhattan, NY.
* Coupon VOID if bought, bartered, or sold for cash.
* Offer cannot be combined with any other offer or discount.
* Offer only redeemable in the U.S.
* Void where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law.
* Applicable taxes must be paid by bearer.
* Offer applicable only to purchases made with a valid Visa card.
* ©2008 Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
* ©2008 Visa U.S.A. Inc.

An upcoming rental at SMF is pricing out to $0.95. I'm a little reluctant to reserve that one...

$40 is not unreasonable to either party- when Hertz or Enterprise used to run their 50% off weekend discounts, one could get similar rates, though maybe not quite in the $40 range.

We'll see...

I wonder if I can pay by AMEX. Do they take VISA debit cards?

I booked one for 60 bucks for this weekend with the promotion. I needed it, it saved me about 80$. I'll post on how it goes, I am planning on paying w/ VISA since it's a VISA Promotion. Good luck y'all!

I forgot to add, the rate code "EWEB" also works!

Add it for additional discounts.
