Incoming package from EHI?
FedEx delivery manager notified me that I have an incoming package today from EHI in St Louis. Anyone receive a similar notification and/or have already received the package? I'm EE if that matters.

Update: it was a letter from the Damage Recovery Unit asking me to file an incident report, which unhelpfully did not reference any specific rental and/or incident. My previous several rentals were checked in fine without issue.
Called National to see what's going on, and they told me that the Polestar I had returned in PHL last week was missing a charging cable. I told the agent that the JFK manager on duty (where I picked it up) sent me on my way without a cable and said he'd note the reservation, as I was planning to drive only ~150 miles on a full charge. The agent said she'd open a dispute of the claim and I should hear back within 1-2 weeks. |
That is pretty weak. Always take photos of things noticed before checking out for when these disputes inevitably pop up.

How am I supposed to take photos of a missing charging cable? Open every storage compartment and take a photo of each?

This is a Crazy thing of National and Enterprise. Their DRU (Damage Recovery Unit) sends an empty Incident Report to fill in paper via Fedex.
I returned a car at JFK. Damage was discovered when returned (must have happen at hotel parking lot, not when I was in/near car). I flew out of the US. They send a paper form via Fedex AND provide Fedex with the email - so Fedex notified me by email it is coming. If Fedex did not notify me about envelope from Enterprise - this envelope would wait for me for 2 months. In short - DRU has the email addr - but does NOT use it to send the form to the customer. |

No. But if you know that a piece of equipment is missing, it is essential that you have it noted on your contract before you drive away -- the same as you should do if there is pre-existing damage, or if the fuel-gauge level does not match the fuel level on the contract.
I've started to use Avis more, if I am going to have a crummy experience anyway, and the price is lower at Avis... |
