I booked Midsize Aisle, NOW have Executive. Rebook?

Hey there ---

I booked a 1 day rental for $140 for National.

I recently got the Chase Sapphire Reserve and have Executive Status tied to my account.

HOWEVER, if I try to rebook, using any various contract IDs (emerald, infinite) --- the price is now $200. Because .... I booked the other thing two weeks ago.

So....

Is Executive status tied to my person/ account ..... or my specific reservation? Should I just grab something from the Executive lot? .... my understanding is that the Executive rate is obviously usually CHEAPER. It's just, now it's closer to the reservation date, so rebooking isn't practical.

Yes, you can just grab a car from the Executive aisle. Note this probably won't mean much as vehicle inventory is significantly down at most locations and the aisles may be combined, or worse. If you must have something (large SUV, luxury, etc.) you're better off reserving it.

Yeah I'm afraid the inventory is terrible. I'm flying into Denver for a wedding, though I would road-trip back.

Hmm. I have a $35 flight back as backup I suppose.

I don't need an SUV ... driving East so it will be flat as a board. I just need something that is ideally not garbage ha.

If the flight back is $35 I would just fly.

Right maybe I should. I kinda just want to drive for a couple days, get out of the house. I live in a studio apartment typically.

Maybe it's stupid but at least it will be a boring change of scenery, ha.

I drove from Denver to North Carolina, trust me, you aren't missing much.

Yeah several people have told me that, ha.

Like I said, I'd rather drive and get out of the house a few days, versus doubling my time in a COVID tube.

It's probably fine, yes, but. Eh.

United keeps changing my flight time too ... consolidating flights or god knows what.
