Getting a brand new car off the aisle
There have been a few times that I picked up a car with under 10 miles on the aisle, complete with a temporary license plate. I do feel a little bad driving it over 1000 miles. I do drive gently to break it in like I would if I owned it.
Who else had the luck or misfortune of being the very first person to rent a car? |
I've had several under 1000 miles and a few under 100. I had one with 3 miles that I immediately returned because of some sort of bad rattle.
(That's one more reason I would never buy a used rental car - they don't get a break in period.) |
Drove a brand new Cadillac XT5 off the aisle at MCO last year. Had 5 miles on it.
Have had several under-100 mile cars from National over the years. |

I rented a 2019 Silverado ld (old body shape) at IAH in November 2018 that had 4 miles on it.

Many times, including a few that literally came off the truck, and one that was so new, I had to finish peeling off the dealer sticker residue from the window.

It seems that low mileage cars are harder to find lately. I have seen cars with over 20k miles in executive aisle at MEM and BWI

Had a brand new, "Tag Applied For" Silverado 1500 out of BHM in March. 11 miles on the ODO and I thought it was the trip meter until I stopped for gas in TN and gave it a serious look. I put about 2,000 miles on that truck and rode it like it was a rental. That was the first time in 13 years of driving rentals regularly that I caught a "new new" vehicle.
