Elite qualifications - # of rentals using free days

I need a few more rentals before year end to reach the 12 rentals to requalify for Executive this year. I have a free day that is expiring (earned the "regular" way through rental credits). I also expect to have a 1-2-Free day to use before the end of the year. If I use these as individual single day rentals (i.e., no cost other than taxes/fees), will each qualify as one of the 12 rentals I need to requalify for Executive? (I realize they won't count towards earning rental credits.) Thanks in advance.

They both count towards status.

Both count towards status. If you need a rental or two for status, a cheap weekend rental from Enterprise will also count.

Slightly off-topic, I get an email from National saying "you're close to maintaining elite status".
Really? You mean 26 rentals year-to-date and 157 days isn't good enough?

I always laugh at the status emails. I can return a car, and my account immediately shows how many rentals Iíve had for the year. But the status emails are always a few rentals off.

Thanks all for the confirmation about free day use counting for the rental status count.
