12/23 morning:

If you need an SUV, you better have reserved a Luxury or an SUV. No luck finding one on ES!

ES: entirely sedans
Luxury: Range Rover Velar, Sport, Discoveries; Volvo V60 wagon, XC90, BMW 330i, 530i, X3, X7; Lincoln MKZs; XTS, XT5, Escalade; Audi Q3, Q5, Q7; half dozen Mercedes GLC300s, GLS, GLA; several Jaguar F-Paces; Infiniti QX60
Spotted a 2020 Ford Explorer ST on the SUV row.

Is there an actual SUV row? I thought it was just the EA/ES aisles, a couple unmarked rows, and then Alamo/Enterprise signs.

I think it was sitting in a couple unmarked rows that were filled with SUVs.

DCA had a pretty paltry selection Monday night. I guess I shouldn't be surprised because it's the Monday of the first full work week of the year. It was half empty; mostly Grand Caravans, various Nissans, etc. Best picks were a Jeep Cherokee FWD and a Mustang (which would be great except for the light snow that's coming tomorrow).

They had two BMW X7s, a couple Mercedes GLC300s, and a Lincoln Nautilus in the back but they were not letting anyone take one without a luxury reservation.

Does National close at 11:59 on the dot? I assume there is a little leeway until the booth agents leave; maybe 10 minutes or so to account for last minute renters?

Most locations will generally stay open until the last flight has arrived or the last reservation has been checked out.

Good to know thanks. Looking at a flight that gets in at around midnight, so just wanted to make sure they would still be open

You shouldn't have any problems. If you're worried, you could try going to the contact page on the website and selecting the DCA location because it usually goes straight to the managers, and telling them your reservation number and flight number.

Unfortunately National does not have the same flight tracking system Hertz has. But again, you shouldn't have an issue, and if there's no one at National you can go over to the Enterprise or Alamo booth.

Maybe @AutoSlash can chime in.

Agree with everything m907 said. Unfortunately, it's really hard to get the local offices on the phone. Best to try to contact them via the Contact Us page. You should be OK if your flight is on-time, but if it's late, you may run into issues.

Thursday morning: ES had mostly sedans. Luxury had 6-8 brand new GLC-300s, a couple new X3s, 330is and a single 7-series, XT5, XT4, Jaguar F-Pace, and two Range Rover Discoveries.

Where did all the Ford SUVs go? Haven't seen a single Edge or Escape in months.

Someone probably had a LONG roadtrip or used it as some sort of test vehicle to prove the theory of "unlimited mileage".... I had the honor of taking it over the 40,000-mile mark on the day that I returned it.

Ouch, I've been avoiding midweek for awhile. Ended up dropping off Tuesday around 1pm, and you know it's bad when a Chevy Sonic gets dropped in the ES area!

Otherwise, absolutely nothing of note- pickup trucks and small sedans across both EA/ES

I saw a Nissan Rogue with 90,000 miles on it at Columbus airport.
