AA Miles to keep rolling from CitiBank
"AMR, the parent of American Airlines, has raised $2.9bn (£1.8bn) of new financing to help it through the global downturn in air travel.
The group said $1bn of the total came from advanced sales of frequent flyer miles to Citigroup bank. " With this purchase of AA miles by Citi, they are going to be looking for more ways to give promotional bonuses. So, fatten up your mileage accounts as long as the party lasts. |

Ultimately it seems that the best thing for us to do as consumers is to ensure that the cycle continues. We want the airlines to stay in business so we need the banks to keep buying miles and giving them to us, 25,000 at a time. Keep churning those CC applications, folks. We’ve got an industry to protect. |
IMHO, OP may be a tad over-optimistic. Citi has certainly been cutting back on handing out credit card bonuses as can be seen by looking through the lengthy threads on churning etc. in the Credit Card Programs forums.
But, things can turn around. :D |
