I just read the thread for the statas match offers

And i remember reading in teh archive that there were a few point match offers in the past

Do point match offers ever pop up anymore ?

the latest I know (and I did profit from with > 800'000 miles) was KLM Flying Dutchman offering to comp status and miles in 2002.

There is a trip that i would like to take,

If i can get 2x the miles on it it would work out very cheap for me as the miles could be used on a trip that my family is taking soon after that. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Point-matching is (obviously) rare. DL did it in 2000 or with a cap of 50,000 miles. You had to jump through a couple of hoops, such as spending $10k on the DL Amex within 6 months and then snail-mailing paperwork at precisely the right time. But the miles did post: for the cost of 1 annual fee ($85) and a bit of hassle with mailing stuff, I ended up with about 77,000 DL miles when all of the bonuses eventually posted.
