Now that this is out...
[Nevermind.]

Stop. Think.
Bringing the conversation that's been going on offline, because of the lingering uncertainty up to this point...
Don't take the bait. Don't sell out for 500 miles. Don't do Delta's work for them. The good sages in this and other threads have been helping people with all the fine points, when the better thing is to stop, think, take a couple of steps back and look at the bigger picture. Makes me think of lemmings, showers, the clink as the gate locks behind. Think. And if it comes to you, please leave it be, personally and in this thread. "'Tis a far, far better thing..." |
I think I get it now, Firewind... Thanks again for your help!

Code:
Date Description Miles Bonus Miles Total Miles They've also updated the terms, for the better: ·The linking of a WorldPerks and SkyMiles account will extend the mileage expiration date on which your miles expire in your SkyMiles account. The SkyMiles account expiration date will be updated 4-5 weeks after SkyMiles and WorldPerks accounts are linked. |
OK, earlier this year we transferred 20+K NW miles from my wife's account to my NW account, giving me an additional 40+ K (20K + 20K) NW miles. Can I now transfer 30K of my NW miles to my wife's account and get 60K NW miles added to her account? Paying the transfer fee, of course.

upgrader, I'm sorry that I don't know the answer to your question. But just to be clear about what the answers will be answering, are you talking about transferring back and forth between NW and DL accounts, or within WorldPerks? Thanks. :)

And, as I understand it, she could also transfer 10K back to you, resulting in another 20K for you, and then you would be maxed out for incoming as well. It's not the cheapest way to get miles, but better than buying them outright! |
A simple course of action?
I know this has been discussed to death, but for that very reason things are still a little confusing, and I understand Delta has been issuing further updates, which I've also found not entirely clear. The most perplexing problem is about Delta expirations.
I think one thing is clear though: if you have both Delta Skymiles miles and Northwest Worldperks Miles, there is no down side to transferring all your Delta miles to Northwest at this point. In other words, though there may be uncertainty about Delta miles expirations now, if you transfer them to Northwest, they will become Northwest miles and won't expire, and if you decide to use them for a Delta award ticket, you can always transfer them back to your Delta Skymiles account. So if you feel at all uncomfortable or uncertain about what's going to happen to your Delta miles, you might as well just transfer them to NW. Is this simply true? [Note: I am talking here about transferring miles between one's own DL/NW accounts, not the separate issue of paying to combine miles from e.g. a spouse's account.] |
