Avis and airline miles
 

I guess I just never paid much attention to Avis' policy that all corporate rentals will only earn 250 frequent flyer miles with DL and CO. I thought this applied to discount corporate rates only. According to Avis' customer service department, ALL corporate rentals will only earn 250 FF miles. I paid $60 a day for a mid-size car in ORD 2 weeks ago and only got 250 FF miles.

I've been putting most of my rental car business with National this year. They give you 500 FF miles per rental. For a mid-size to full size car on the Emerald aisle in ORD, I paid about $50 a day. I still received 500 FF miles (CO and DL).

By the way, Avis will modify your FF mileage earning opportunity with DL and CO in the near future. You will get 50 FF miles per day on an Avis rental.

All car rental companies, including National, are changing the number of airlines miles they will award. Right now it is a little confusing because the dates at which the changes are happening vary among the car rental companies, and even within the car rental companies the date of change varies for different airlines. I make it a point these days to check the number of miles that will be awarded when I make the reservation.

This year I had received a letter from Alamo when they discontinued their True Blue program. The letter stressed how they were sticking with 500 miles while other car rental companies were cutting down. Unfortunately they are cutting down as well.

AusTXHiker, National has already changed the mileage to be 50 miles per day with American, with other airlines to follow in the near future.

pgupta, I was just referring to the ZI-CO and ZI-DL relationships. They don't go to 50 miles per day until October.
