Charter One cards -- will this make it easier?
What if I put $482 on each card (instead of the $500 max) then just withdraw $480 in cash. This saves me the trouble of actually explaining to someone what I'm doing -- plus it's quicker. I could just deposit the cash right back at the ATM that I withdrew from. Has anyone tried this? Am I missing something in my plan?

Well, you cannot designate your own gift card amounts. You can only choose from what Charter One has in the pull-down menu. It is $300, 400,500... impossible to have $482.
I have not had any problems with these cards apart from the slower than desired delivery speed..I buy wal-mart money orders for 46 cents, works just fine. |
You can only purchase $25,$50,$75,and in increments of $100,as far as I can see.

Also, on a $400 card i just buy a m/o for $398.54, to allow for the 46 cent m/o fee and $1 PIN transaction fee from Charter One. No small amounts remain on the card this way.
