My Points program gets better ...

I know there has been some discussion of the My Points program in the past, and in general there was some disappointment about the slow earning, but it looks to be getting better.

For starters, they've added a lot more partners, including Hilton. You can now transfer MyPoints into Hilton HHonors points at a rate of 1:1 in 1,000 point increments. If you're a Hilton HHonors member this definitely makes the program better (I'm still saving for a Hyatt gift certificate though ...).

They've also added the VacationMiles program ... but the link doesn't seem to be working, so I'm not sure how valuable that option is yet.

UNOFFICIALLY, it looks like MyPoints and BonusMail will be merging in the near future ... but that's just a guess on my part. They both sent out nearly identical e-mails a couple weeks ago saying changes were coming, and they are both owned by the same company, and some of the new MyPoints awards are ones that have been available in BonusMail for a while already ... we'll see.

If you're interested in signing up for MyPoints, visit http://www.mypoints.com ... and if you're feeling particularly generous enter my username (which is Beckles) as the user who referred you so I'll get closer to an award too.

Yes, MyPoints and BonusMail have 'merged', so to speak. BonusMail points are being converted to MyPoints at a rate of 5:1. They must still be working out the bugs, however, because the MyPoints web site is not functioning properly. There is a section on the BonusMail web site that explains the conversion.

Good Luck with BonusMail!!!!!
I think??I finally have it straightened out now, but had 2 seperate problems with being able to log on to the members area.
The first took over 5 months to resolve. I had signed up for a "next" credit card which uses BonusMail. I must have e-mailed them over 30 times. It was like talking to thin air. Finally through working with "next" card, it got resolved.
The second happened when I changed my e-mail address. Again I sent over 15 e-mail
trying to get someone to recognize my new address. The last straw was when I got an e-mail back from them asking me to restate the problem because they had lost my previous communication. Again only talking to someone at "next" card got it resolved. I am waiting until I have the least amount of points for anything and then I'm gone.

Looks like the new program is still in process. Yesterday, the MyPoints web site had some information with regards to the new program. Today they are back to the "watch this space" page.

Holding my breath in anticipation. Not.

Well, it looks like the merger between MyPoints and BonusMail is a done deal:

From the MY Points website (which was finally up and running sunday afternoon 4-11 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Balance Transfer

As part of the integration of BonusMailŪ and MyPointsŪ, we have conveniently transferred your BonusMail balance into your MyPoints
account. The balance was transferred at a ratio of 1 Point for every 5 Rew@rds credits previously in your BonusMail account. Don't worry, the spending power of your Point total remains the same. For example, 500
Rew@rds credits would have been converted to 100 Points, but your old total and your new Point total, when redeemed, can buy the same thing.*

BonusMail Transaction History

Your MyPoints account statement will have one line item reflecting the lump-sum balance transfer of your BonusMail Rew@rds credits balance(converted to Points). Over the next few months we will be updating this transfer amount as advertiser reports from recent campaigns in the(former) BonusMail service continue to trickle in. We have created a convenient way for you to see your BonusMail transaction history. Please refer to it as often as you like. This will be available until June 30, 1999.

I have over 7000 points with BonusMail so I'm hoping there are good offers with MyPoints.

Like Starwood... my jury is out on this program.

I will MISS those bonusmail e-mails where if I don't take advantage of the offer I get a few points here and there. I hope MyPoints continues them.
