Triple Flight Miles that count towards status on US with their CC

Got this from US - basically, get the credit card, get triple flight miles that count towards status on all the flights that you pay for with the card by 6/04 - that means if you can pull 33.4K by June on US, you can get their highest elite level. Seems like a pretty legit offer - According to an article by Kieth Alexander in the Washington Post today though, it may not be the best investment of one's time. I'm sure that US will be around for years to come, but that's my uneducated guess.

Dear BHATNASX,

How can you earn Triple Miles and have them count toward Preferred
Status?

With the Dividend Miles Visa(R) Credit Card, of course! Now through
June 30, 2004, simply purchase your tickets using your new card and earn
Triple Miles, which count toward Preferred Status on all of your US
Airways flights.

That's in addition to the other fantastic benefits you receive with the
Dividend Miles Visa Credit Card, including:

- Limited time offer of 10,000 bonus miles after your first purchase -
halfway to an airline ticket
- One mile per dollar spent on your everyday purchases
- Two miles per dollar spent on qualifying US Airways purchases
- 10,000 miles toward Preferred Status when you spend $25,000 annually
- One annual companion certificate
- One annual complimentary US Airways Club(R) pass

To apply for your card, visit http://www.usairwaysvisa.com. This
exclusive Triple Miles offer is available to new cardholders only, and
tickets must be purchased with the Dividend Miles Visa Credit Card. Other
restrictions apply. See terms and conditions for additional details.

Remember, this offer expires June 30, 2004, so apply for your card
today!

We thank you for being a valued Dividend Miles member, and look forward
to having you on board a future US Airways flight.

Sincerely,

Michael Isom
Managing Director, Marketing Programs

Edited to Add - you can become a Silver with a mere 8,340 flight miles by June, or a Gold with a mere 17K by June.

Also - not sure if its targetted or not.

I have not received this offer and cannot find it on the US site. Does anyone know if this is targetted?

I've not received this either. Would be nice though.

It may be because I have a 2 year-old US account with literally 500 miles in it (I have some US flights scheduled for 2004, but earning is going to UA, not US). If I can any other offers or similar informationa and a usable link (the one provided has no info) then, I'll post here.

Editted to add the Terms & Conditions from the e-mail (which I should have posted earlier, sorry!):

TERMS & CONDITIONS: Offer valid only to new cardholders approved
between 1/20/04 and 6/30/04. Triple miles will be earned on all flights taken
after card approval date, purchase of tickets, and completed travel by
6/30/04. Triple flight mile bonus valid toward Preferred status on
all mileage qualifying fares for travel on US Airways, US Airways Shuttle
or US Airways Express operated flights between 1/20/04 -6/30/04 and
purchased with a new Dividend Miles Visa Credit Card approved on or after
1/20/04. You will automatically be registered for the Triple Miles
offer once you are approved for the Dividend Miles Visa Credit Card,
activate your new card, and purchase your US Airways tickets using the new
card. This offer is not valid with the Dividend Miles Visa Check Card
or Dividend Miles Visa Business Credit Card. Offer not combinable with
any other flight bonus mile or Preferred status offers. This offer
excludes travel on other airline partners such as United, Lufthansa,
etc. or on codeshare flights operated by other airlines. All Dividend
Miles terms and conditions apply.

If account is opened on or before 6/30/04, Platinum cardholders earn
10,000 bonus miles, Gold cardholders earn 7,000 bonus miles and Classic
cardholders earn 5,000 bonus miles after you make your first purchase.
Regular new account bonus miles: Platinum cardholders earn 7,000 bonus
miles, Gold cardholders earn 4,000 bonus miles and Classic cardholders

I received this offer too. Any ideas on what would be the cheapest way to earn Chairman's Preferred? Also, just in case US goes out of business, are there any airlines that would comp top status based on US CP?

If someone could please forward me a copy of the email from USAir, I would appreciate it.

Email is in profile.

Done.

I got the email - obviously a pretty good deal if you have some US Airways travel coming up.

I don't, so I deleted the email.

If AA made a similar offer, I'd take it and use it as an excuse to take 3-4 trips to hit ExPlat. But with US Airways, you just never know whether your status will outlast the airline.
