If you are an American citizen, with a US mailing address, you can't acquire BA miles for transatlantic flights in your AA account. I flew BA from JFK - LHR - FCO and couldn't get miles for the JFK - LHR portion. It's a silly rule and has caused me to switch to DL for my international flights.</font>
Actually, I think I can because they have me on AS to Vancouver, BC so my LHR flight is actually from Canada. In the future, I will insist on making my own reservations and just fly AA from PDX-LHR....skip Canada all together.

I think that the carve-out from earning BA miles on AA flights (and vice versa) now applies only to non-stop flights between the US and Europe.

Effective July 1, 2003, AAdvantage members may earn and use miles on British Airways transatlantic flights to/from Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. British Airways transatlantic flights to/from the U.S. are not eligible for mileage accrual or redemption.

To get back off topic, QANTAS still is an acronym. Queensland And Northern Territories Aerial Service for those wondering.</font>
And to get off topic once again, the airline's registered name is now "Qantas Airways Limited." It was originally "Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited" (not "Territories" and not "Service") and as such was referred to with the all-caps acronym "QANTAS." References now should not be all caps, but "Qantas."
