250 Points for Survey on SPG

Just visisted the site to check my account level and a pop-up came up with the above offer. Very harmless, 5 minutes or less, survey for 250 points. It *may* be random because when I visited again for another 250 the pop-up did not show! May have to get rid of the cookie/history/cache files.

Hmmm. I got an email about this survey (presumably) a few weeks ago, but I couldn't get the survey to show up on the website, even using the link in the email.

Road King Dec 31, 2003 11:38 am

THANKS! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif Just completed for an easy 250 points. Make sure you set to allow pop-ups.

... and the ignorant one asks: For what does 'SPG' stand?

It stands for "Starwood Preferred Guest."

Starwood was having a lot of the problems when it first came out due to high customer response. But it went back to its out-source for the survey and fixed it. The links should be working now.

Can you pastge the email link again...I'm going to be greedy and see if I can do it again! I tried clearing my PC's history/cache/temp etc. files but didn't work.

Did anyone bother to read the disclosure as to what can be done with the data, including your personal identification? You do acknowledge reading and accept the terms for the survey!!!!!!!!!

AmericanFtWorthTX Jan 2, 2004 4:05 pm

Thanks for the link. I've visted the website several times and never got the survey. :-)

dinise Jan 2, 2004 9:58 pm

I did read the terms of the survey. Who says anything put down in the survey is true? I certainly didn't put my correct DOB in it after I read it.

Timmer1001 Jan 3, 2004 7:14 am

Nice and easy points... thank you

FC_Dave Jan 4, 2004 7:32 am

SPG is an easy comp to Plat - I have completed the survey and will transfer the points out to one of my Airline accounts to create an activity

As a plat there is no minimum to transfer out orphan points, there is an incentive to transfer in 20,000 increments.

janhigginskcmo Jan 4, 2004 7:57 am

Has anyone had their points posted yet?

blackjack-21 Jan 4, 2004 11:17 am

Checked last night-----no survey points yet. Did the survey a couple of weeks ago.

Just went to spg.com and it worked fine for me. I did have to change my security settings before it would accept my final submission though.

Hadn't stayed with Starwood for a while and couldn't log on so I emailed them and received a reply today.

It appears that my account had expired in April 2003 but the customer service agent reinstored my account and my expired points as a courtesy gesture.

I don't know, I'd stayed with Hilton and Interconti/Holiday Inn due to my status but due to my various disappointments with them and due to the fact that it was one of the best replies from a CS agent (lately I send emails to hotels and CS but apparently nobody seems to care or bother replying) I may give my businesses to Starwood in 2004.
