welcome to FT ray there are multiple discussions on how to spend e-rewards at the S.P.A.M. forum.
Some are old, but still give a good insight on what to do with them. I am still wondering what to do with them, as I have $120+ with them http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif best cash-out @ e-rewards $150 in E-Rewards - what to do? Thanks for your input, everyone!
Based on the comments on this and all the other relevant threads, I have decided to go with the Hilton reward. It is the most useful option for me and it also seems to be the least complicated option. -Ray [This message has been edited by ray (edited Dec 03, 2003).] |
Really good thoughts here ...
... but shouldn't this be in 'S.P.A.M.'? ------------------ On the road, In the air, I enjoy travel, From here to there. |

I seem to get at least 2-3 big $25 surveys a year, with plenty of change thrown in along the way. I really like the program - its great, every year I can rack up enough Hilton points for a free night at a Scandic Hotel which would otherwise cost me a couple of hundred bucks.
Its a shame I dont fly AA ... because I could get more HH miles through AA conversions (or indeed free roundtrips on QF directly through AA). |

Just finished a survey for $10 on heavy equipment.

I'm sure glad this was in MilesBuzz. I had the same question, having about 100 'whatevers' and wondering about their value and how to use it. I too sort of enjoy seeing the work of the marketing pollers.
I was here at FT when the SPAM board was created to remove what was then regarded as 'spam' from BUZZ. Since then I have never had a reason to even once look at what is posted there. I came across e-Rewards completely independent of FT. I don't consider it to be a topic only appropriate for SPAM. |

It seems to me that the best use is putting them into the account you're trying to top off so you can redeem and award.

The lift tickets are a total scam. They haven't been there in almost a year (at least)--about the same time the higher value HHonors awards disappeared. My email exchanges went for naught, and I lost about "$100" in e-rewards due to these changes and the surprisingly-enforced expiration policy that hadn't been enforced for the previous two years.
I did discover how to get higher value surveys--after I lost my previous management job at a well-known technology company and started my own, and updated my profile to indicate I was the "decision maker" for a wide variety of corporate purchasing, the surveys began arriving. |
Update!
Hmmmm. I found an e-Rewards email in my Yahoo spam folder. So I opened it: a 1-minute survey about IT stuff. I completed the survey and earned a quarter. Yippie. I also told Yahoo that This Is Not Spam, hoping that I'd get more e-Rewards stuff and not miss it. About 4 hours later, I got another 1-minute survey about slightly different IT stuff. Another quarter. I wonder if I start becoming responsive to e-Rewards if they will start sending me bigger surveys. Perhaps Yahoo has been blocking a bunch of surveys all along... Who knows. Anyway, that 50 cents for under 2 minutes of my time. At this rate, I will be rich by 2056. Oh wait...by then, an ALON will cost 4 million HH points. Never mind... |
Another update: when you actually start interacting with the e-Rewards emails, they start sending more your way. Since I filled out a couple of short surveys, I now get about an email a day from e-Rewards (whereas I used to get about one every couple of weeks).
Still nothing big, but lotsa of 25-50 cent jumps for reading an email and then answering two or three questions. Since we are talking about a tiny time investment (measured in seconds not minutes) and a small carrot at the end of the stick (1000 or 2500 AA miles for me), I will keep clicking for the sake of mild amusement... |
Can you transfer the E-rewards to a hilton account that is a "mutual" or family account. My wife would like to transfer her E-rewards to our account, by generally it looks like it is only in my name even though it is a mergered account.

I side with those in the "it's worth the effort" camp. I've been active for about 2-years and have amassed $235 e-bucks. Have never cashed in as I'm waiting for a tempting offer. I think it's consistent participation and some degree of influence in the IT world that brings the high dollar surveys into your inbox.
