Rudi's Well-being

Since Rudi is such a vital part of this online community, it is incumbent on all of us to consider his well-being. I sincerely hope that he wasn't travelling on the JFK-Geneva flight last night and I hope to hear from him soon. I started a new forum rather than continue the previous one as although Matt had good intentions his choice of words was very poor.

Anyways hope to hear from Rudi soon- anyone who has access to the passenger manifest - please check if they was a Rudi Marcel onboard.

For new/infrequent visitors to this forum, Rudi is a ff based in Switzerland who was flying from the US-Switzerland this week.

Thanks

Thank you, megamiles, for so eloquently saying what should be said.

I called the NY hotline. They haven't finished contacting immediate family members so they would not confirm whether Rudi was on the flight. I gave them my name and number in case they could contact me later. Of course I'll post here if I hear anything. Catman, have you tried calling Rudi (or his brother Wolfram) at home in Zurich?

Catman Sep 3, 1998 3:40 pm

Ferry, I have not tried calling Rudi's home.
I still have the feeling he was NOT on the
SwissAir Flight and I never like to disturb
anyone (it's 5 pm NY time, I think it's
after midnight there.)

Confident that Rudi's ok, will see this
avalanche of messages and will get back to us.

As I said, Rudi's more than a vital part of
our on-line community. He's a friend, like
you guys are to me. CATMAN

I hope you are right Catman. I sent him an e-mail too but have not heard from him. Let's hope that he is cheering for Martina Hingis at the US Open.

Catman Sep 4, 1998 12:18 am

IT is 2:15 am NY time. Did not hear from
Rudi yet. No word from SwissAir either (I
did add my name of list of concerned
friends of possible flyers.)

Had to get up early and so some "pre work"
work. Did some searching on the Associated Press wires and so far no final passenger list. The A-P did say about 36 of the crash victims were Swiss nationals.

STill my gut (which is in front of me) tells
me Rudi's still on vacation and I think he
told me he would be going back on-line
friday (9-04.)

Know you are all busy but if anyone hears
anything before 11a Eastern today... could
you write me at: [email protected]?

Hoping for the best, and Rudi hope you enjoyed the OPEN and Martina. CATMAN

The uncertain time of waiting is over. According to the official list, Rudi was not onboard.

Good luck Rudi

Thank you my friends.

thank you for beeing concerned. We (my wife and I) just flew back (Thursday/Friday) JFK-FRA-ZRH with UA (LH as carrier) and arrived safely at home. On trips with my wife I let my laptop at home.

The Swissair crash is quite a shock and many relatives here at home phoned to look after us (my children were able to comfort them).

And I try now to answer all my email.

Rudi
