Airmiles and Nectar points?

Here's one for the UK experts out there. I'm trying to figure out if there's an arbitrage angle here, but I don't know enough about the Airmiles programme to make an informed judgement.

Sainsbury's is currently offering 500 Nectar points for a 3kg bag of IAMS catfood (price, £13.99). This seems like a lot of points which can be (I think) converted to Airmiles. The only problem is that I can't seem to find information on converting to Airmiles on the Nectar site, and I can't find anything about redeeming for premium cabin awards.

Can any FTers shed more light on whether this is a worthwhile promo to take up?

i don't believe airmiles are with nectar as they are already with tesco.
but with that £13.99 for each bag you could get to the US in Y for £1,500.00 only..
and have 108 bags of cat food. go for it!!

Bargain!

Guess it isn't worth pursuing, then. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

For only 12 kg of catfood (@£55.96) you would earn enough points for a free return ticket on the Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted Express, plus have leftover the 110 points one would normally earn on such a purchase (and another 27 points if one used a Barclaycard to make said purchase). If you actually might need that much catfood, that could be a good deal, albeit not an arbitrage opportunity.
