e-Rewards is a SCAM

In case you didn't know, here's why.

They send you emails inviting you to take a survey, typically offering two dollar amounts: one "when you qualify and fully complete the survey", and another much lower amount, "if your survey answers do not meet the criteria to fully qualify for the study".

Note how unclear that last statement is. Is it a survey, or a study?
Are they one thing, or two?

That's not an accident.

What happens in practice is this: they ask you a bunch of questions, and as soon as they get an answer they don't like, you are rejected and given the "token" amount (usually $.50).

What they don't tell you is that this could happen even if you've completed most of the survey. So you get $10 if you "fully complete" the survey (meaning, they like your answers), but only four bits if you complete 95% of it -- which, by their own estimate, takes 20-30 minutes.

This is completely unethical, and not just for the survey respondent.
Do the companies paying these scamsters realize how they are operating?
A host of issues are brought into question, from ethics (obviously) to accuracy and respondent selection (not so obvious).

Does anyone know which state(s) have jurisdiction over e-Rewards?

I agree that more and more of the e-rewards surveys are rejecting me after I've completed, say, 50% of the survey. In the past, they've asked maybe 5 or 6 initial questions on which they based your qualification. Now, they're increasingly asking 20 to 25 questions before qualifying you.

Yup they are a scam

I stopped responding to their surveys now. Just make sure I click on the initial link to get the very basic amount. When that gets to 25 I take an award.

Nonsense.

Having gotten over the last 5 or so years I bet over 30k AA miles, about 15k in various other airlines, 40-50k HH points. Two $25 Macys Gift cards and I currently have $95 in my account which I will redeem soon for either gift cards or Hiliton points... I just cant buy your argument.

What you relate regarding questions is nothing new it happens to all of us, but you obviously expect too much (for too little) or more to the point think you wont have to work at it at all.

Maybe you are encountering the "fake" questions they stick into the surveys?

One thing I noticed is that the profile questions had fake questions inserted to prevent people from using a bot or just clicking anything to get through the screens. One question was something to the effect of

"in order to make sure you computer can display images, please click the picture of the chocolate chip cookie"

Very sneaky. The surveys are completely bogus and any company using their results for anything meaningful is just being silly. I will continue to milk these programs for free miles.

They have also started timing you and rejecting you if you do the survey too fast - now I read pretty quick and click pretty fast - and get rejected about once every two months with the 'too fast' excuse.

Must we have yet another "e-rewards is a scam" thread? There are already at least a half dozen of these, with nearly identical names. The Search feature isn't that bad.

LIke most of the posters of this thread, I have gotten my rewards when I redeemed my $$ for them, especially the bonus points miles I needed for either Hilton or Delta. :D

Very useful in keeping my FF accounts active. ;)

Sanosuke!
