ANY yes means I'm an addict? As I was reading I was hoping I had to answer yes to ALL of them to qualify for addiction. I was getting a little worried after the first 7 got me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

BTW, keep your grubby little hands off my statements.

1. Are you a member in every possible frequent flyer program?

No. That's the easy way...

2. Do you get the sweats and does your heart rate increase when you notice miles from a recent trip haven't posted to your account?

Yes

3. Do you get excited to compare your status with others, while in Hotel lounges?

Very much so.

4. Do you have color coded files, neatly organized, at home for all the programs your a part of?

No, but I use mile tracker.

5. Do you plan flights on carriers that have mileage promotions and that is not the most convenient or cost effective route?

Sadly, yes.

6. When it comes time to get your preffered status renewed, do you get nervous that it ma not go through?

Only 'till I pop the first Zanex.

7. Is your preffered status title more meaningful to you than your job title?

I feel they are both worthy of space on my resume.

8. Does every single one of your co-workers, friends, and family members know that you are top-tiered status on a any given airline?

If I can help it.

9. Is us mail, that you receive, from airlines the very first that you open and read, even the small print?

Is that a crime?

and # 10,
10. The moment you receive your personalized luggage tags, denoting your preferred status, do you run straight to your luggage and attach them??

Of course not! That is an occasion to buy entierly NEW luggage to attach the tags to.

Do I get free miles for signing up?

Kramer1 Sep 11, 2003 10:10 pm

I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine, and yes, he's addicted. We talked, or he talked, for about 30 minutes about how mad he is at Hilton. Evidently, they've been posting his 500 miles to Delta, but everytime he checks in, he provides is UA Mileage Plus number. Well, evidently, his Hilton Honors profile has Delta, and making the change at check in doesn't work. He's furious. Too funny.........

1. Are you a member in every possible frequent flyer program?
No. I'm a member of one, and will go out of my way to fly with that airline, even if it means paying a ridiculous amount of money for a fare.

2. Do you get the sweats and does your heart rate increase when you notice miles from a recent trip haven't posted to your account?
No. I call my "special" number (which I've memorized) on my "special" card, and try to get it sorted out, dropping mention of my status a few times if needed. If this doesn't work, I call up my "angel" and she works it out for me.

3. Do you get excited to compare your status with others, while in Hotel lounges?
No. There's no comparison. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

4. Do you have color coded files, neatly organized, at home for all the programs you're a part of?
See #1.

5. Do you plan flights on carriers that have mileage promotions and that is not the most convenient or cost effective route?
Yes. See #1.

6. When it comes time to get your preffered status renewed, do you get nervous that it ma not go through?
No I've made top-tier by March. But I continue to fly the airline anyway, aiming for that million-mile status.

7. Is your preffered status title more meaningful to you than your job title?
What job?

8. Does every single one of your co-workers, friends, and family members know that you are top-tiered status on a any given airline?
They don't understand...

9. Is us mail, that you receive, from airlines the very first that you open and read, even the small print?
No, I check the Website every day, and I've already signed up for that promotion. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

10. The moment you receive your personalized luggage tags, denoting your preferred status, do you run straight to your luggage and attach them??
No. I complain that they have a stupid slogan, are ugly, and look cheap. And I say I'll keep my tags from 1998 that I got when the Super-Secret Airline Club still existed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

So, as you can see, I am clearly not a mileage addict. Not even close... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I had this problem too. Fixing my HH profile fixed the problem.

1. Are you a member in every possible frequent flyer program?

All the big 6, but none other than that except Midwest Express and Amtrak Guest rewards, and both were for one-time specific purposes.

2. Do you get the sweats and does your heart rate increase when you notice miles from a recent trip haven't posted to your account?

Yes, especially if there were irregularities that could cause problems.

3. Do you get excited to compare your status with others, while in Hotel lounges? No, because I don't have a peer group at work that I can go apples-to-apples with. I do often talk about benefits at certain levels to impress on the elite-less the importance of playing that part of the game.

4. Do you have color coded files, neatly organized, at home for all the programs your a part of?

In a way. I still use the colorful pocket protfolios from Wal-Mart)

5. Do you plan flights on carriers that have mileage promotions and that is not the most convenient or cost effective route?

I'm always on my own dime, so I don't budge very much on costs if others are offering it lower. OTOH, almost all my travel is discretionary, so I can wait out the sales. All the planning work goes into the creative itineraries.

6. When it comes time to get your preffered status renewed, do you get nervous that it may not go through?

No, but talk of "enhancements" and supposedly necessary changes always set of the alarm. Lately it seems from the airlines that it's been all fee-gouging and take-backs.

7. Is your preffered status title more meaningful to you than your job title?

Yes, ever since I left the corporate world.

8. Does every single one of your co-workers, friends, and family members know that you are top-tiered status on a any given airline?

They know I get special benefits; the mileage bonuses are kinds abstract to them, but getting to fly up front inspires some degree of envy.

9. Is us mail, that you receive, from airlines the very first that you open and read, even the small print?

I'll first check the back flap to see if it has a long-distance company name; those get tossed. Unless I've been tipped off through FT, I'll open it last or near-last because there just haven't been any big ofers covering low-tier fares recently.

and # 10,
10. The moment you receive your personalized luggage tags, denoting your preferred status, do you run straight to your luggage and attach them??

I try to think if any pieces need them and put the new tags on there.

How about this one? (I didn't see it posted but perhaps it's in another thread.) You know you're addicted when you have memorized most of your airline and hotel program account numbers.

A while ago, one of my brothers asked me to get UA on the phone. He chuckled when he realized I had United's number memorized. Then my other brother predicted that once I get connected, I'll say to the UA agent, "Hello, this is Neal." http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
