Infrequent fliers on AA, AS & AW

There are 6 infrequent fliers flying 5 sectors on AA, AS & AW to a total of 7000 miles on a US & Canada itinerary.

How would you handle the accumulation of miles. This is not a theoretical question.

I would be curious about the board's collective wisdom.

Sort of a bad combination.

AA and AS miles can be earned with AS and AA
AS and HP miles can be earned with NW (at least for now)

There's no FFP to earn miles for all 3 in, I think.

HawaiianMiles. (Hawaiian partners with all 3. And you can definitely earn Hawaiian miles on Alaska and America West. Is American just a redemption partner, or can you earn on American too?)

Semantic note: Two letter abbreviation for America West is HP. Alternatively, some people use AWA.

Gary, unfortunately in the case of AA, it appears Hawaiian flights can earn AA miles, but AA flights cannot earn HA miles. Refer to your link above, and this one: http://tinyurl.com/mtdq

MSP2000, I need more details. Specifically:

    Dear Rut Dog:

    You are right about HP!

Six travelers are 3 couples. 2 Couples have the same last name ( brothers). They ( 3 couples) do not share mailing addresses. But they could!

There's a decent chance you can earn enough Hilton HHonors points to be worth your whiles. But I'll need to know at least the city pairs to figure out how many miles to earn, and how they can convert to HHonors points.

    Rut Dog Sep 9, 2003 11:51 pm

I don't know when I'll be able to check back again, so here's what I have in mind:

Each pair can have what HHonors calls a mutual fund. It is a joint account, ostensibly for spouses, but it has been reported that they are primarily interested in you being at the same address. So say the brothers are married, and you should be fine. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You want 5,000 miles in each FF account, to transfer to 10,000 HHonors.

AA and HA transfer. AS and HP don't.

You can earn AA with AA and AS.
You can earn HA with AS and HP.

If you can get 5,000 in at least one FF account per person, you can then transfer each pair of FF accounts into one HH account, for 20,000 HH points in each joint account.

20K will get you one to three free nights at HHonors hotels (Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, or Conrad) depending on the hotel category and if point stretcher is available.

Plus there are a number of ways to earn even more HH points for free (credit cards, www.MyPoints.com, www.eRewards.com, etc.).

You can find more details in the Hilton forum and at www.HHonors.com
