I am kind of confused. I found where I can buy TC without any fees. but.... confused about the credit card. The card I have is check card with Visa logo. If I use this with non-pin transaction, is this considered to be credit card purchase? the cash advance fee only applies to credit card. but my question is I have a check card with Visa log. Is this a credit card?

thanks!

sounds like you have a debit card which is used like a check. check with the card issuer, but it should not incur a fee.

Scrath Post Office with BofA debit card. That defintely DOES NOT work. Hasnt for almost a year.

I would be weary about doing anything that involves the Post Office and returns. (E.g. Buying Stamps online than returning for Cash)Since they pay for the miles (and the Transaction Fee) and are not getting that money / miles back, it is possible that action could be considered theft. Since it is the US Postal office, it would be considered a federal offense. This is an extreme case, but it may not be worth it! Not fun http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Correct, no miles for a Post Office money order......

But as Master Yoda said: "No, there is another."

Greetings, and welcome to Flyertalk! You will find that people here are very helpful and friendly.

I have also been looking for what I consider the holy grail of mileage opportunities, the no fee traveler checks. Alas, they seem to have gone the way of the dodo bird, assuming that you are purchasing them with credit cards. Most companies have caught on to this scheme, and while several offer no fee checks, most do not allow you to purchase them with credit cards. Good luck finding one, but it is unlikely. If you find a place that does so, though, please let us know.

BofA issues ff check cards for AS, HP and US and you get miles for PIN or Visa transactions...

Does Bank of America Foreign Currency charge a fee?
Bank of America Foreign Currency does not charge a fee for the purchase of foreign currency. There is a 2% service charge on all American Express Travelers Cheques in foreign currency and U.S. Dollars. If you are an Advantage, Prima, or FirstChoice Gold account holder, the service charge for your travelers cheques order is waived. Delivery is free for all orders of $500 or more. How can I pay for my order?
If you are Bank of America customer with a U.S. deposit account, you may pay by having your Bank of America checking or savings account debited, or by using your Bank of America check card with the VISAŽ logo (ATM/debit card). We are unable to accept credit union issued credit cards, or non Bank of America debit cards, including those with the VisaŽ or MastercardŽ logo. You can also charge your order to any MasterCardŽ or VISAŽ credit card. However, credit card purchases will be considered cash advances and all fees and charges associated with cash advances will be applied.

Do I need to be a Bank of America customer to order from Bank of America Foreign Currency?
No. Anyone can order foreign currency and foreign currency travelers cheques from Bank of America Foreign Currency using any MasterCardŽ or VISAŽ card.

What is the maximum order amount?
The maximum order amount is $5,000. Foreign currency orders over $1,000 must be picked up at a Bank of America full service banking center. You will need to have your confirmation number.

Sort of, the WM register will reject attempts to use a cc for money orders or MoneyGram wire transfers. BUT they are happy to to process your ATM/debit card using your PIN...
