FF cards to kids
 

I have noticed that some European airlines ( IB, BA, AZ, LH) do not issue FF program cards to kids while most US airlines do.
In case my husband and I with our kids would end to fly with one of the above mentioned carrier, are the kids entitled to accumulate miles or not? If so are those miles credited to the parent FF card ?
I would really appreciate if someone could explain how this works.

I can't speak for the others, but BA allows miles to be earned by fliers under 18 if they are part of a "Household Account"

Miles accrue to the child's personal FF account.

I can't imagine any airline denying mileage accrual to a minor flying on a paid adult ticket. There are many stories here about five year olds being top-tier elites in a number of programs.

well with all the alliances these days, can't you just have your child join a US Frequent Flier Program and have them accrue miles with European Airlines

Membership is limited to individuals aged two or above who reside in a country in which the Miles & More programme is available.

Thank you birdstrike. Unfortunately I cannot find any information on how to create a household account on the ba website. I have my own, do you know if I could transform my individual acct into an household acct, and how by any chance?

jxt1442, yes I had your same idea. In case we will end by not being able to create a household acct and flying , let's say with IB, we will all use our individual AA advantage cards.

They can earn miles and even get a different looking Miles&More Card which says Jetfriends.

I believe my daughter she was automatically set up with M&M membership when we flew a bmi DC redemption flight.

My question is: if she started to earn miles on her account, could we then redeem her miles for a child ticket for the same flight we were travelling on that had been booked some other way (e.g. we use our bmi DC miles for our tickets, and her M&M miles for her ticket)

On a similar note, does anyone know if it is possible to buy a regular child fare if you are accompanying the child on the same flight, but through a redemption booking? I have one trip in mind where it may make more sense for us to redeem miles/cash for the adult tickets, but to buy a child seat and accumulate miles... not sure if this would work, though.

Yes you can earn and burn, only you can't be sure both BMI and LH has awards available on the same flight. But if they have, you can do that.
