buying IBond with AE Optima?

I am still not sure if I can get points from my AE Optima card (no annual fees). I seem to get points only from some vendors, and not all the time (never sure). Called their office, and they don't even know what IBond is.

Has anyone get any info? Or should I wait to apply for a regular annual fee credit card to buy my bond?

All the bonds are treated as purchases and I have no idea how you could just get points for some things and not others (Bonus points are another story). Once again all bond purchases are treated as any other purchase so you don't have to ask amex and frustrate yourself or amex.

You can make the American Express Optima part of the Membership Rewards program if that is your question but it will cost you. I have done it by linking my Optima to my other fee based Amex cards. So I really don't understand your question and I think your really confused about the Amex product you are using.

Thanks. Yes, I'm very confused. I was told once by Optima rep that not all my purchases are qualify for reward points (because no fee). There are several months in which I only have a few purchases, and no points posted/ changed for a long while. But I did get some points for other purchases, without paying any fee...

Oh well. I'll just buy a low amount of saving bonds and see if I get the points.
