The way to get 50,000 miles!!!

You guys have helped a lot!!

Most of these ways to get miles were suggested by people on here. Some of them I found on my own. I thank you and have compiled a way to get the miles if you do this in a consecutive order. Thanks everybody.

Ok, I figured out a way to get 46,000 miles. The only thing it costs you is $85. It takes 50,000 for a round trip ticket to Europe. 35,000 for Hawaii or the Carribean. 25,000 for a roundtrip anywhere continental.

It pretty simple. Here is how you do it. First, apply for a United Miles account. That gives you about 3 thousand off the get go. Then you can register for a US open prize sweepstakes, and you get another 1000.

Now you apply for the basic VISA United Miles card. This gives you 15,000 miles. Now, switch your state to state long distance to Sprint. It is only 5 cents a minute. Heck of a deal anyway. This gives you 6,000 miles. Now, opt in for the extra dollar a month and you get a calling card and 2,000 extra miles. You have to keep sprint for 6 months.

After you get your card, call and have them up your status to gold. This costs an extra $15 a year, but you get 2500 miles for doing it, and another 2500 for being a gold member for one year. Once you are a gold member, you can then add on extra card holders for 2500 miles per card up to a total of 4 cardholders. Thats 10,000 miles for giving your kids or dog a card. You don't have to activate them either.

Now you can get your last 5,000 miles by referring someone to get the card. If you are married or have a significant other, or friend who is interested, you can have them use you as a referal. this will only get one person the extra 5,000 miles, but if they can refer a friend as well, the cycle will continue.

All of the offers are good thru Dec. 31st, 2003.

You also get a 2 miles for every dollar and 5 miles for every dollar with sprint. Those will add up as well. There will also be other offers out this year. So you could easily earn the extra 4 or 9,000 miles (respectively) needed to go to Europe, or you could just fly down to Hawaii for the weekend and have some leftover miles.

-----
edit-- I forgot, if you transfer a balance, you get miles as well, so that makes up some of the extra miles if you wanted to go to europe.

Since when does UA Mileage Plus has a sign up bonus that DOESNT require any flights?

Actually, they have had a few recent promotions that required only partner activity. I got lots of points for referring folks here that way. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

[B]Now you apply for the basic VISA United Miles card. This gives you 15,000 miles.
You can get a 20,000 mile signup bonus with the United Signature Visa.

Actually, I believe you DO have to activate them -- and then bonus miles come after first USE of each card... so you'll at least need to make one charge on each.

Barefoot,

You picked up the basics quickly http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Note, though, that some of these miles post SLOOOOWWWWLLLLY. You'll have to wait at least six months (plus probably an extra 6-8 weeks) for the Sprint miles to do you any good. So, as long as you're planning way ahead, by then you'll have probably earned enough miles to help yourself along anyway.
But, definitely on the right track with the cards and the phones. These seem to be the most generous bonus offers out there right now (on United, anyway, which it sounds like is the way you've decided to go).

Check out the United forum (and the USairways forum) for other stuff that comes along.

barefoot Jul 8, 2003 1:29 pm

I just got off the phone with the guys at VISA and they said I would not have to activate them.

The sprint thing is different. You get 3000 with your 1st sprint invoice and then 3000 with your 6th.

You get the calling card miles right away.

Andy2 Jul 8, 2003 1:48 pm

Just a practical thought, it isn't that big a deal to activate and use the card even if it is in fact in the name of your dog.

Just buy $2 of gas and pay at the pump. The pump doesn't ask to see Spot's ID.

ec336 Jul 8, 2003 7:49 pm

Based on some posts here on FT, and based on my own personal calls to FirstUSA, the promotion of adding additional cardholders for 2,500 miles each expired on June 30, 2003. :-(

Where can I do this?

When you apply for the card, what income level and SSN do you assign your dog? Or are these just the extra cards?

Thanks for the info, Barefoot. Do you have a link to that 3k sign up bonus ?--I'd like to do that!

Andy2 Jul 9, 2003 10:24 am

American Express doesn't insist upon SSNs or income levels on the extra cards.

sanFF Jul 9, 2003 10:30 am

Sprint is also offering 10k UAL miles thru
the end of July. Yes UA has been easy to earn miles the last 12 months. I have accumulated 102,000 miles and expect to get
10k more in the next month using the above mentioned tactics and have not flown UA
ever....

cesco.g Jul 9, 2003 11:20 am

Could you please post the link to this 10K promotion for Sprint?

I received 10k last week when I switched (1k/mo.). I got the sense that plans in certain states gave 10k, others did not. BTW, my plan has a monthly fee of $2 with 24/7, 7 cent calls.

barefoot Jul 9, 2003 12:04 pm

http://shop.sprint.com/residential/v...ited_3144_3096

they don't show it anywhere online, but you also get an extra 1000 miles for getting a $1 a month calling card with sprint.

cesco.g Jul 9, 2003 1:53 pm

Thanks for the link, Barefoot. It does come up with 5K miles.
Tenacious, how did you sign up (phone, web, others), and if I may ask, which state?

cesco.g Jul 9, 2003 4:25 pm

Just signed up with Sprint for a 10K bonus as follows:

5K for sign-up + 5K for tagging the accout to my MP Visa card e.g. payments done by credit card.

1st 5K to post after 1st invoice, second 5K to post after 6th invoice.

Thanks again, Tenacious.

cesco.g, thanks for this post. I called Sprint back to change my plan so I could get the 10k over 6 months instead of 10. When I called the first time I was told this program had expired at the end of June.

Do we dare burst the bubble - regarding the bait and switch redemption rates, or is that a problem unique to Continental - Very Little Standard Award Availability ??????

Xyzzy Jul 11, 2003 12:35 pm

Think of how much effort this requires, and how much more you'll be paying for long distance vs. some of the 3c/minute low/no fee long distance carriers.

I make my calls on www.onesuite.com for 2.5 cents/min with no fees or taxes of any kind. Been using them for about 4 years now; best LD deal I've found.

So sign up because the miles are cheap for the minimum price you would have to pay, and use a dial around or phone call to actually make calls.

I Called United this week and was also told that the extra card bonus promotion ended on June 30th.

Of course, a mailing I got in early June said the promotion was 'ongoing'.

Where do you get the 3000 mile bonus? I don't see the sign up bonus mentioned on their site.

Please note that this promotion guarantees at least 500 MP miles though you can win up to 3000 miles. You may want to edit your post accordingly.

Also, do you have a link for the 3k bonus for signing up a new account? I know a friend that could use this. Thanks!

cupps Jul 14, 2003 2:13 pm

Sorry if my question is a repeat, but how can one get the 3000 mile signup for a new account? I would like to use this, but I do not have any flight activity arising soon. Thanks for the information. (If you like you can email me the link directly)

How I I find out about the miles for balance transfers? Do I have to call and request the transfer or can I use the checks the credit card company has sent me?
