25K DL Amex promo question
Back in March, using this link:
http://www66.americanexpress.com/car...0214033738/0/n I signed up for the 25K Delta where you get 10K initially and then another 15K if you spend $5K in the first 5 months. The offer was vague and I read it to mean that I get the 10K + a 15K bonus after I spent the $5,000.00. After checking my statements, it appears that I got a 10K bonus in June for the card (more than the promised 6-8 weeks from first usuage, but that's okay) and then another 10K listed as the "Gold Promo" and then the regular miles (including the double miles promo) which equaled >5K in points. So is my assumption correct when I'm guessing that I'm not getting a 15K bonus, but instead I'm getting it as 5K for my spending the $5000.00 and then the 10K as a bonus? If so, I am disappointed because that's no the impression I got. Anyone else who signed up for this card get the wrong impression too? Or did you get your $5,000 bonus in a different format than I did? Thanks! |
From your link, it appears that the 25K bonus offer expired March 3 2003.

Read and re-read these offers!
THe DL promo in question was 10k with first purchase and then 10k more when you spend $5k in 5 months, plus the standard 5k for the spending = 25k total for spending $5k. I did a similar (fee-free the first year) deal on the DL Business Amex... 10k with signup, 5k for adding two fee-free cards, then 5k for spending $5k in 5 months for a total of 25k including the regular miles for spending. Took a few reads to realize what I was dealing with! There's a lesson in here for all mileage promos.. not just the DL Amex ones. Before spending money or making decisions, know what you're getting. In my case I knew what I was getting and wasn't spending money. So it was a no-brainer. Unfortunately, with too many promos, even the CSRs for the offering company don't understand the deals! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif On the one hand, it would be nice if promos were more clear cut. On the other hand, the more convoluted a promo becomes, the greater likelihood for loopholes... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif ------------------ View from the Wing: A blog about Free Miles and Free Markets |
