Keeping Track of the Fees

Mod: Please move this to a more appropriate forum if there is one....

I'm wondering if someone is maintaining or others think we should maintain a summary chart of all the misc. fees that the airlines are now adding on. To me, it may make a difference when choosing an airline - for example, if I'm taking an overnight business trip, then I probably don't care about a checked bag fee. If I'm going on vacation with the wife for the week, then I probably do (as well as the overweight fee and the 2nd bag fee).

Just a thought. I'd be willing to contribute but if someone has already done it or started it, I'd like to know.

This is a great idea. It would be nice to have it as a wiki. I would try to contribute to it, although I do not travel much anymore. I think it will be somehwat complex since airlines often have different fees for different fare classes, for domestic versus international, for award tickets and for different levels of elites. But that's just one more reason why we need to try to make this...

The FlyerGuide wiki would be a good place for this, although you may have to do it on a per-airline basis. If you just want a general article that lists the fees for all airlines in a single table, I'm not sure there would be a good place on the FlyerGuide wiki to put it... Mikel might be able to help.

Now if only Rick would add that to the FlyerGuide wiki... :)

Bringing this forward, now that Northwest has joined the gaggle . . .

Northwest also says it will begin charging $15 for the first checked bag, matching a fee added by other carriers this year. And the airline says it will begin charging a fee for frequent-flier award tickets — from $25 for domestic tickets to $100 for flights to Asia.
