wondering if anyone could help me

hey, so i am currently travelling around the world on my gap year and on friday i fly from lima to sao paulo. i was then going to spend 2 weeks in rio but have heard that it is rainy and i want some sun so am trying to find a way out to some sun.

i have heard that i may be able to get a frequent flyer pass and therefore perhaps get a cheaper flight to central america return.

i have my boarding passes for:
london - la with ba
la - mexico city with aeromexico
mexico city - cancun with aeromexico
cancun - guatemala city with taca
san jose - lima with taca

and i am flying with lan to sao paulo from lima on friday.

i would like to fly from either sao paulo or from rio to central america but will need a return flight as i will be flying home from rio.

so i was wondering if anyone knew if this would be possible and if so what airline i should get the frequent flyer with etc.

thanks, kerri xxx

Kerri,
Not sure about central america air passes but here is one world's south america pass (might not be too useful to you as you already are visiting a couple of countries in south america) but if you are interested in any of those countries, you might be eligible to purchase this pass as your flight in is on LAN...

Not sure whether the question is serious, but in case it is, a "gap" year is a hiatus year between graduation and "life" when a new graduate may travel, or find something interesting to do or a cause to help (e.g., try writing a book, or give a year to an archeological dig or to Habitat for Humanity, something not intended to be a vocation), or do something else to expand his/her horizons.

To get one, you talk to whomever finances your life.

And who exactly would that be?;)

Kerri,

Your flying OneWorld, SkyTeam and Taca who has a reciprocal miles agreement with Iberia (OneWorld, like BA) and United (Star Alliance).

If you want to spread the miles, sign up for BA for the LHR-LAX routes, and your travel on LAN. For the AeroMexico routes signup with Air France-KLM (Flying Blue). As I am guessing your LHR based these two make the most sense for your locations.

For your flight home from Rio, book with BA, the flight makes a one stop in San Paulo , then non-stop to LHR.

How do you book this flight? Contact the financier of your travel.

Two things that nobody has mentioned yet, neither of which has much to do with your trip:

1. Welcome to FT!

2. For your future posts, a thread title that describes your question more accurately will improve the chances that people who can help you will read it. "Wondering if anyone could help me" could describe about 25 percent of the posts here. Many active members select threads to read based on their titles, and don't have time to pursue every thread whose title is this general on the chance that it might be of interest.

Enjoy your gap year - it's a fantastic opportunity!
