About those coupon forums

The coupon exchange thread is getting very long, and, judging by the posts I've read, some FTers with slow connections are becoming annoyed by the long download time.

Perhaps we could break the thread into several shorter threads by putting some sort of time limit on each -
e.g.
"Coupons expiring by 31 March 1999"
"Coupons expiring by 30 June 1999"
"Coupons expiring by 30 September 1999"
etc

where "by" means "on or before"

At a first glance, breaking the expiration dates into quarters would appear to work - I think having a separate thread for coupons expiring each month might be overkill.

...

What do you think?

Try the quarterly, then, if more people start adding and it's still too long, change to monthly. I'm guessing however, that the December and February months/quarters will still be quite long.

As an alternate suggestion, how about the following:

Have seperate forums for each type of coupon-
Car rental
Airline
Hotel

And then we (who post) each take the responsibility to edit to nothing upon expiration of coupon.

I think this would be a lot easier to search through if you're looking for a coupon....

or edit to nothing if you have disposed of coupons. sounds like a good idea.

I like the idea of only one forum for coupons, so you don't have to check in three different places. The only time I would even think about checking for coupons would be near the expiry date, so they would not go to waste. My vote is for 1 coupon forum, with monthly expiry dates.

It also occurs to me, that even if posts are "edited to nothing" you still might end up with a gazillion empty posts. A monthly forum would "self empty" every month.

I still like the idea of removing items once they have been used.
