If this isn't Buzz-worthy then I don't know what is.
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2003--Air Tahiti Nui announced today that membership in its Frequent Flyer Program, Club Tiare, which has previously only been offered to residents of Tahiti, is now available to all travelers worldwide.
"As Air Tahiti Nui has matured and expanded to four continents, we recognize the appeal that an attractive Frequent Flyer Program has in the airline marketplace," said Wally Sumner, Air Tahiti Nui's Vice President-North America. "Club Tiare is relevant to all our customers, not just those who are residents in our home base of French Polynesia," he added.
The Club Tiare program is based on points which are awarded on each of Air Tahiti Nui's flights. Accrual of the points will lead to benefits from free tickets, to upgrades or allowances for excess baggage. Furthermore, Club Tiare members will receive special notifications of promotions via direct mailings not available to the general public.

Interesting, they charge $20 to join.
Club Tiare program participation
1) There is an adhesion fee for the "Club Tiare" loyalty program of $20.00 for the TAHIA card and $40.00 for the FETII card. Cards are valid for three renewable years and are strictly personal. Each passenger ages 12 or over can participate in the "Club Tiare" program. Nevertheless, for the FETII card (the family card), the beneficiaries include all children between 2 and 18 years old. For every request for the FETII card, you must provide copies of the birth certificates or copies of the passports. The accumulated points will only be credited to the card after receipt of all documents and the complete file.

Interesting that you can accumulate points on a family card. However, note that the redemption rates are higher under the family card program.
