It's quite normal for airline pilots to reside somewhere other than their base. For one, they might be assigned/choose various bases throughout their careers, so it doesn't really matter where one lives, as long as they can commute (via airline). This is very common.
Florida and Nevada both attract a lot of airline pilots, because of the advantageous tax situations. |

Yes, but no state income tax in Florida or Nevada (among other states, but those two are the most popular with airline pilots).
